My then-2-year-old celebrating her first Christmas to hear
Thanks for stopping by my page. I’m a writer and editor with a day job and a daughter in college. We are into girlpower, music, and fitness. She loves reality TV, while I’m an ’80s movie fan. I introduced her to Bon Jovi; she introduced me to K-pop and Taylor Swift.
I earned a journalism degree from the University of North Alabama in the early ’90s (yeah, I watched grunge kill my beloved hair rock) and spent nearly 20 years in the newspaper business as a sports writer, assistant sports editor, news copy editor, and page designer. I’ve been published in magazines like Parenting, Volta Voices, Healthy Children, VisitSouth.com, regional newspapers, and parenting publications across North America – just click the tabs above to see my work.
I also share my thoughts on books, feminism, sports, music, writing, and being mom to my bionic girl on my Sound Check Mama blog. Why Sound Check Mama? Two reasons: My daughter hears with cochlear implants, which require frequent sound checks, and it’s a nod to my love of music.
Click around the site and let me know if you have any questions about my writing, editing or design services. And I’d love to know if you like something you read.
